Climate Change Response Strategy

AmorePacific is working to lessen its effects on the climate change.

Climate Change Response Strategy

The efforts made by AmorePacific to reduce green house gas (GHG) have been carried out by following three strategies: GHG reduction in products, GHG reduction in the processes of production and delivery of the products and GHG reduction in other supporting activities.

Direction of GHG reduction

  • 1 GHG reduction of products
Developing low-carbon products which reduce the GHG emission rate generated throughout the whole production process
  • 2 GHG reduction in the process of production and delivery process
Reduce GHG emitted directly during the delivery and production of products
  • 3 GHG reduction according to other supporting activities
Reduce GHG generated in the buildings of our headquarters and the departments in each area

AmorePacific has had a reduction goal of 5% of yearly emission rate by won (against sales turnovers) from 2009 to 2011; through our entire value chains, we have reduced GHG by realizing energy conservation and resource reduction and tried to improve environment management efficiency.

In the future, AmorePacific will minimize energy loss of our offices and production facilities and apply green building technology to new building. In our products, we will calculate the GHG emission rate generated throughout the whole production process and expand measuring GHG emission rate along with our effort to reduce it.

AmorePacific has created Sulloc green tea garden in Kangjin Jeolla province and in Jeju Island as large as about 530,000-pyung, and around 5,300,000 green tea trees grown in the gardens have been absorbing carbon dioxide. Since 1980 when we first planted green tea trees, about 51,000 tons of carbon dioxide has been absorbed and about 9,000 tons of CO2 is verified to have been additionally absorbed every year.
